Successful launch of Radio 105
Agency: Frame Factory
On September 9th the new Zurich station 105 went on air. The Swiss agency Frame Factory supplied the multimedia studios, which can be seen online via live-stream, with a realtime-graphics-system based on Ventuz.

Radio 105 was founded by Giuseppe Scaglione as a station for young people and has been broadcasting for several years via cable and on the internet. With the newly acquired UKW-frequency the station is literally “on air” and expanding heavily. For this purpose new studio facilities were built in the Zurich World Trade Center, equipped with the newest in media technology. You cannot only listen to Radio 105, you can watch it. The station has a
live-video-stream on the internet which shows music videos and live pictures of the studio.
In each of the studios two large HDTV-displays are showing live-graphics which fit the current program. Also the studio desks are illuminated in the color of the current program. As soon as a studio goes on the air, the desks are colored red and a custom on-air-animation is shown.

Realtime studio graphics
Frame Factory installed two high-end Ventuz-machines. These computers render the studio graphics in realtime and control the illumination of the desks via a DMX-signal. They are integrated into the main studio automation and therefore are aware of what is being broadcasted at any time.
For each of the three programs (besides Radio 105 two more stations are being produced in the new studios: Radio Monte Carlo and Rock Nation) Frame Factory created specific logo- and theme-animations. Since the graphics are not preproduced video clips, but are being rendered in realtime, the animations are pin sharp and constantly adjust themselves to the what is happening. For example, some of the animations react to the current music signal.
